DAY 20: TUE 11 SEP - OTIGHEIM TO GERMERSHEIM

Ride: 77km; total: 867km
Fine grey skies with a tailwind

The day was fairly easy as it was flat with the wind.  This part of Germany is nowhere near as nice as the floral route in France.   But still interesting as we alternated between quiet roads, separate bike paths and rides alongside the Rhine.  The villages were ok but not "pretty" and very quiet. Most people would be at work of course and the kids at school.

Germersheim has a nice old town and the remains of a fort (now the School of Music) but nothing spectacular.

The hotel is a very grand old place with modern facilities and a restaurant attached.  75euro for a double room and breakfast.  As it was raining we ate at the restaurant, bratwurst and sauerkraut, which I've acquired a bit of a taste for.
