Nice breakfast of boiled eggs, bruschettta, yoghurt, coffee
and fresh fruit. Got out of Kleve
quickly, decided to take the Nimegen route as it is not as far and there's
plenty to see on the way. Made good time and was at Nimegen by morning
tea. Had a lovely cup of coffee in the main square, which was old and
impressive. There were Fri markets on so lots of bread, fruit, cheese,
fish and flower stalls in the mall. Great looking food.
We had a headwind for most of the day and the last 25km was
perched up on a flood wall along the Rhine or
its canals. But beaut farms, gardens, immaculately maintained houses and
scenery all the way, so apart from the wind it was great.
Had our lunch, from the breakfast bar, at a fishing pond
sitting on the ground. A fishing competition had just finished.
Got into Teil about 2:30pm and a very helpful lady on a bike
chanced by and pointed us to one of very few motels, The Tiel, in town.
98euro for a twin room, including breakfast. The room was nice,
big and clean. I showered and then rode into town for a look and to check
the route for the next day. I do like to
know where I’m going. Teil had a nice
port and city centre.
Had dinner in the motel restaurant which was very busy due
to a large anniversary party. But the
food eventually came and was good.
