Fine but cool and cloudy all day 11-17deg
A late breakfast saw us not getting away from the town till
8:45am. Smooth path all day, majority of which was right on the Rhine. Boppard was a nice place as was Koblenz, however it was
full of tourists so just had a wander around, lunch from the stuff we got from
breakfast then moved on. The Rhine
eventually widened and the surrounding countryside lost a bit of its charm.
Nevertheless it was still nice and as there were plenty of boats of all
description coming and going there was always something interesting to look at.
Got into Andernach about 3pm and the first motel we tried
had two single rooms for 40euro each, including breakfast. The motel and
the owners were old and tired but it was value for money and clean. After
booking in we had a wander and the town is bigger than we first thought.
Most of the old town walls were still standing and being used as housing. But not much else has survived the ravages of
time. Maybe it was bombed during WW2.
Found a good restaurant but they said come back in 15
minutes so went for a walk and found a better one. Great food with
excellent decor. I had roast lamb with veggies and Graham had ravioli.
His was good but mine was brilliant. After another wander, some along the Rhine, had an early night.
