DAY 18: SUN 9 SEP - COLMAR TO STRASBOURG, FRANCE

Ride: 78km; total: 713km
Fine sunny, 8-24deg

A great ride out of town on a quiet Sunday morning as we head back the way we came to rejoin the Rhine Route.  We enjoyed flat, smooth, canal paths for the whole day.  Had coffee and morning tea at Sunderhouse, next to a very old weighbridge and church.  Most of the buildings were medieval and they had dressed up the place beautifully with masses of flowers.   Such pride and effort is appreciated by us foreign cyclists.

The last 50km into Strasbourg was completed on a practically dead straight, sealed and immaculately maintained bike path next to a canal.  What a pleasure to be in a country that takes care of their cyclists, runners, walkers, rollerbladers, etc.

Strasbourg is the home of the EU Parliament so some exploring tomorrow before heading north again.

The weather has been great since Graham’s arrival.
