DAY 11: SUN 2 SEP - CONSTANCE

Rest day

Cloudy with late showers max 18deg.

Had a great breakfast of eggs, sausages, bacon, fruit, yoghurt and nice coffee.

Spent the day just wandering around this interesting city with some great photo opportunities, or in my room sorting gear, answering emails and just enjoying the moment.  As it was Sunday it was fairly quiet around the city.  The Constance Triathlon was held this day and it looked a very big affair with lots of competitors of all shapes, sizes and ages.  The blocked streets and lack of traffic made for a great family day out with people out with kids on bikes and just enjoying family time.

Constance has a great deal of history also, with more evidence of prehistoric pile dwellings settlements dating back 5,000 years.  I saw an interesting reconstruction of one of these houses near the lake, along with a mighty cathedral and many historical and modern buildings.

Went back to my room for a supermarket bought lunch as I couldn't seem to find what I wanted in cafes; yes I am fussy what I eat!  I've been buying my lunches and dinners most days at the supermarket. The day I arrived I bought enough for 3 days and it cost about A$22, that works out to just over $3 per meal, which includes wine for dinner.  I got some smoked salmon, frankfurts, tinned fish, carrots, sour kraut, olives, fruit, goat’s cheese and yoghurt.  I can then eat when and what I want.  The buffet breakfast was included in the price of the motel. The language barrier also sometimes makes it hard to order anything special out at restaurants.
